Clinical Approach
As a therapist, I believe that the relationship between a therapist and a client is based on building trust and open and honest communication. I also value accountability as a therapist to continue unpacking privilege through self-introspection, recognizing the multiple layers of intersectionality while working with individuals and their families, and evolving into a better individual, personally and professionally. At Vona, I provide individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, adults who use American Sign Language.
Areas of experience and interest
Within the past few years, I have found a passion in providing direct access to mental health services for the Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing (DDBDDHH) community. As a member of the DDBDDHH community, I understand firsthand the importance providing accessible, culturally responsive, and compassionate support to underserved communities. Before working at Vona I worked as a clinical case manager/mental health therapist at the Mental Health Center of Denver with their Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services program. I have been heavily involved in the human services field for the past ten years; my experience ranges from post-secondary education to patient navigation within the complicated health care system.
