Move Toward Equity Campaign Brings New Opportunities for VOA High School

September 7, 2022

VOA High School students and staff are welcoming a fresh start for the 2022 – 2023 school year at their new location in Northeast Minneapolis.

Last year, the environment surrounding the high school began to present uncertain and difficult challenges, and it became apparent that it was time for a change. Through the collective efforts of Volunteers of America MN/WI, VOA High School students and staff, generous donors and the community, the Move Toward Equity Campaign was launched. Funds raised through the campaign made the move possible and will continue to support ongoing operations and the invaluable services VOA High School offers that sets them apart from other contract alternative schools.

The move provides VOA High School the opportunity to operate in a location that is better suited for learning, collaborating, and interacting with the community. The new location also allows the high school to expand its reach to even more youth in the area who may have otherwise not had the option to receive their diploma.

A celebration of the move and campaign progress was held in July at the new location. Members of the VOA Board of Directors, staff, community members and new neighbors gathered to tour the school, discuss the school’s success and hear from H.B. Fuller’s President and CEO, Jim Owens, as well as VOA MN/WI’s President and CEO, Julie Manworren. (Additional photos of the event below.)

VOA High School is a contract alternative school that offers flexible and engaging learning curriculums that are tailored to the specific and unique needs of every student. To learn more about VOA High School and the Move Toward Equity Campaign visit our website  — www.voamnwi.org/voa-high-school
