At VOA High School, helping students explore career and educational pathways is a top priority—and one of the most impactful ways to do that is by connecting them directly with professionals in the field. This spring, students had a unique opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare thanks to a meaningful partnership with MNGI Digestive Health.
The connection was made possible by Marit Brock, Vice Chair of the VOA MN/WI Board and Chief Performance Officer at MNGI Digestive Health. Through her leadership, MNGI representatives visited VOA High School twice this spring, offering students a first hand look at the wide range of career opportunities available in the healthcare sector.
Nachia Larson, MNGI’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager, shared why this partnership matters:
“MNGI Digestive Health sees value in building connections and offering support to VOA High School students because we understand that many face life challenges that can impact their educational paths. We want these students to know that the healthcare field offers a wide range of careers beyond being a doctor or nurse, including roles that do not require a 2 or 4-year degree.”
The collaboration didn’t stop at classroom visits. MNGI also invited students to shadow healthcare professionals—including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners—giving them a real-world glimpse into the day-to-day work of medical professionals.
The impact of this experience was immediate and inspiring. One student who participated in the program, joined the MNGI team as an Endoscopy Technician on July 14th.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to MNGI Digestive Health for their partnership, leadership, and commitment to community. Your support has brought hope, connection, and opportunity to VOA High School students—and we look forward to continuing this important work together.
