    You could be an instrument in uplifting lives of people with developmental disabilities. We have volunteer opportunities at all of our sites listed above. We will work with your schedule, skills and interest to find the best fit. Volunteering does involve making a commitment to a background check, training and time.

  • Ex-offender mentoring — Amicus

    Volunteers of America of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Locations include: Amicus, MN Correctional Facilities, Hennepin County ACF, and AccessAbility INC

    Amicus Ex-offender Mentoring has been training volunteers to serve as mentors for individual inmates across Minnesota for nearly 50 years. By visiting, writing, and listening to their One to One matches, our volunteers have helped thousands of ex-offenders successfully transition back into society.

  • Youth mentor — Avanti Center for Girls

    Spend time being a friend to an adolescent in need! Provide role-modeling and a positive influence through hanging out, sharing activities and good conversation. Youth mentors are individuals/couples who will mentor an Avanti resident for 6-9 months. Youth mentors will be matched up with one youth resident and will meet their youth weekly or biweekly,

    Assist in the weekly Spirituality Group Sessions held on units. These Spirituality sessions focus on helping our residents to establish core values and utilize the viewpoints of and information from many religions and spiritual traditions. Opportunities to assist with weekly Bible studies or Christian based Chapel services on agency are also available.

    Youth dual diagnosis treatment center gymnasium needs paint and base molding needs installation. Building’s exterior windows need scraping, priming and painting.

  • Tutor (50+) — AARP Experience Corps

    Provide one-on-one tutoring to improve the reading skills of K-3 students in our partner schools. Participants will receive literacy tutor training. Time commitment is 6 to 10 hours per week — daytime hours during the school year. A small stipend is available for those who can make a one year commitment of 10 hours per week.

  • Bone builders exercise leader (55+) — RSVP

    Volunteers of America of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Mora, MN and Minneapolis, MN

    RSVP seeks volunteers 55+ to be trained to lead a free osteoporosis prevention exercise program for seniors. The program consists of free twice weekly classes in weight and balance training along with health education. Get fit while providing a valuable service to the senior community! Mileage reimbursement and other RSVP benefits available.

  • CarFit Technician (55+) — RSVP

    Volunteers of America of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Mora, MN and Minneapolis, MN

    RSVP seeks volunteers 55+ to help increase older driver safety by becoming a CarFit technician. CarFit events rely on trained volunteers to take drivers through a 12-point safety check-up, focusing on seat belt use, mirror and seat adjustments, and more. CarFit is not a driver assessment, but rather a public education program centered on person-to-vehicle fit. Have fun with other volunteers while learning and helping seniors! Volunteers will attend a 4-hour training, and then help with ongoing CarFit events as their schedule allows. Mileage reimbursement and other RSVP benefits available.
